Programs approach

Faith foundation for child dignity and growth

At the heart of our work is Jesus Christ, the deepest model of a Great Friend to every child.

Rooted in compassion, service, and hope

Our foundation is shaped by Christ-like compassion: to serve before being served, to stand with those who are hurting, and to restore hope where discouragement has taken root. We believe sacrifice, welcome, and mercy are not abstract values; they are daily practices that help children feel safe, valued, and seen.

In every program touchpoint, we seek to model kindness with consistency, speak life with truth, and create spaces where children can grow in confidence, purpose, and belonging.

Seeing the overlooked

We are deeply concerned for children who are marginalised, vulnerable, abused, orphaned, withdrawn, out of school, or carrying burdens beyond their age. Their realities call for practical care, patient listening, and long-term accompaniment.

Our response is to meet children where they are and walk with them toward healing, learning, and renewed direction.

Let the children come

Jesus welcomed children with dignity and tenderness. In the same spirit, Tochoz builds environments where children are heard, respected, encouraged, and guided toward hope-filled choices.

Inspired by Christ. Powered by partnership. Focused on the child.

Toziemusic – Izwirashe and Life Discussion & Child Development

Life-inspiring Gospel music helps us capture attention with gentleness, build connection quickly, and open language for children to express what they are experiencing, thinking, and hoping for. Through music, difficult emotions become easier to name, and meaningful dialogue becomes more natural.

From song to conversation

A session can begin with a meaningful Gospel or life-inspiring song, then move into guided reflection about life, purpose, God, hope, and choices. This creates a calm bridge from listening to honest conversation and practical next steps.

A musical voice of hope

David Chinaka’s experience as a teacher, counsellor, songwriter, singer, and producer allows music to function as an intentional part of our child-engagement methodology—linking creative expression with personal development and guidance.

Four-step progression

  1. 1. Music
  2. 2. Discussion
  3. 3. Reflection
  4. 4. Action

Themes that emerge through music-led discussions

  • Identity
  • Self-worth
  • Peer pressure
  • Relationships
  • Perseverance
  • Education
  • Personal goals
  • Faith
  • Responsibility
  • Talents
  • Hope for the future

Our intended sequence is simple: hear a message, discuss its meaning, connect it to life, reflect on choices, and act with hope.

From classroom roots to programme mission

How one school conversation grew into a shared mission to strengthen children’s futures

This story traces the lived experience, relationships, and practical steps that shaped Tochoz into a trusted platform for child-centered support.

Founder and Chairperson David Chinaka carries more than 30 years of teaching and counselling experience into this journey. Year after year in classrooms and guidance spaces, he met children whose gifts were clear but often unspoken, while emotional and social pressures quietly pulled at their confidence. Rather than leave those struggles unnamed, he started the This is Life (TiL) club in 2017 at Regina Mundi High in Gweru - a practical, caring space where young people could speak honestly about life, discover their strengths, and grow through steady mentorship.

By 2019, that beginning was already moving beyond one school setting. With Rumbidzai Nyika and Agnella Njerekai joining and strengthening the work, the vision widened into a shared mission. Together, they helped shape a broader pathway linking guidance, education support, talent nurturing, and community partnership into the growing platform now known as Tochoz.

Today, these origins actively guide Tochoz’s programmes - from counselling and school-fees support to talent development and practical child-focused projects that open sustainable opportunities for vulnerable children.
